Animal Antics..

..A few more posted up on Flickr from a visit to Powderham Castle last year, they have a little farm attached (called The Secret Garden) where they have a few characters!

I've shared these as I love the expresssions that have been caught at the time of shooting

1. Smiling Donkey - Yep that's my best side fella!

Ok so not perfect as the highlights are blown to buggery in the top right, but this was taken free focus, I just basically held the camera at a low angle over the fence, positioned it where I believed it would capture what I wanted and pressed go, I like it for it's quirkyness.

2. "Look mum, I'm a dog!" This fella was a right charcter and couldn't resist shooting him as he just sat there without a care in the world

3. Huh? Pucker Up? Same fella different pose, cute ain't he.

4. Here's looking at you. Unsure what type of Duck it is, but liked the way you can see the family in it's eye

All pics are clickable back to Flickr for larger sizes.

All C&C welcome, thanks for viewing.

Re: Animal Antics..

In our local market there used to be a German chap who walked around playing music while on a lead he had a pig just like that but smaller and he always used to finish his walk by going up to his (I presume) friend who had a Greman stall cooking hotdogs and beefburgers and have a chat.
As the weeks went on the pig got larger and larger and then one day the man was walking around playing alone.
We often wonder if the pig ended up on his friends griddle.

Anyway, sorry to ramble on, nice picture of the pig

Re: Animal Antics..

Cool set. I love pics like this. Animals are interesting and sometimes funny. You'd think you couldn't go wrong but so often a photo fails to show the personality that you saw on the day. Fortunately you've caught them just right.
Donkey one is a good angle and you're right, a bit quirky. The duck one is very sharp and the light is very interesting. Great shot.
Pigs can make brilliant subjects. I went to an open day at a friend of a friend's farm earlier this year and got some shots I was really happy with. So was the farmer as he asked to use them on their website and such.
