Hi All
I am after the 55-200mm AF lense for my D40 before I go on holiday. Where is the best place to purchase it online?
Thanks

Have you considered the 18-200? A lot more money but swapping lenses gets a pain whilst travelling

I did think about that, also less to carry, how much is the 18-200?

Re: Best place to get the 55-200mm Af lense for D40?

Was thinking the same but plumped for the 18-200. No regrets; its only downside is it is a bit heavy for the D40, but you get used to it. Not having to change lenses is invaluable - just been on a boat for 5 days and not sure I would have trusted myself not to drop one!

Re: Best place to get the 55-200mm Af lense for D40?

£410 is a bit too much money, I am then also stuck with the old lense which is pretty much worthless...55-200mm is probably bets for me!

Re: Best place to get the 55-200mm Af lense for D40?

I was looking at getting the nikon 55-200 lens for my newly aquired nikon d40, let me know how you get on with it as the kit lens just doesn't cut it for taking pics of squirrels and birds in the park.

If i get one, it will be at the end of october as the wife wants to buy it for my birthday.

I guess what put me off was having to change lens, but that really is a silly reason.

You might want to keep an eye out in the trading forums too. There might well be one coming up for sale around that time
