I'm in Explore!!!

Until a week ago just one of my photos on Flickr had been in Explore. According to Scout, this shot taken last week made it (following a bit of pimping ) but dropped out again.

Now I discover that a 3rd shot taken on Friday is reported as #322 (& not dropped) ... although I can't actually find it
It's this one (no pimping either ):-

Re: I'm in Explore!!!

Well played, it's a nice picture too...love the perspective of the big sky and clouds. Like the long exposure shot too, very effective.

One of my portraits of my grandads (in the portraits thread here) also made it in this week...takes me up to the grand total of 3 as well

Re: I'm in Explore!!!

Nice work - it's always nice to make it to explore.

I'm not sure how it works - something to do with how many comments and favourates you get. I think it's also effected by how any groups it's added to, and the amount of tags.

Re: I'm in Explore!!!

Nice one

I think regarding explore, that it's the amount of faves and visits within a giving time, having a lot of people that add you helps also, and the groups you have posted to shouldn't have the "post one and comment 3" etc, where the traffic is coming from is another I think that goes to help, hence the tags..I've tried this recently and had a bucket load in

imho

Re: I'm in Explore!!!

Well done - nice photo as well.

I've had an amazing total of one photo in Explore last year, but nothing since - was well pleased with that when it happened though - it's a nice feeling.

Re: I'm in Explore!!!

Don't worry about it.....I have 20 that have now made it. A few weeks ago it was only 16 and the so called new images are really old ones also.

You can do these things also:

You will either want full exposure for your images or if your like me it happens when it happens.

Re: I'm in Explore!!!

Thanks to all who have commented.
I never intended this to be in any way competitive - I'm only too well aware that many here will have 'made' Explore far more frequently than I have. No doubt, deservedly too.

I was just a little bit surprised (and pleased) to find that after having 1 entry in 18 months of Flickr membership, I've had 2 more within 5 days of each other.

@ Julian Fraser - I like both of your 'Grandad' portraits - well done on your Explore entry too

It does seem to count if you have lots of views and comments and don't have the photo in lots of groups - I think that certain groups count against it too. The 'formula' is a changing thing and flickr are tight-lipped about it.

I was pretty obsessed by it for quite a long time and have been trying to wean myself off caring about it, and about getting comments and views... was becoming an unhealthy 'interest' as I kept checking all the time for views and comments. Went so far as to leave about 95% of the groups I used to subscribe to as well, so I'd not be inclined to spend time pimping photos in them.

...I'll restrict that to here.

Haven't looked recently but I used to usually have between 25 and 32 photos in Explore... it was always changing but it was normally somewhere in that range. Might have fallen off now I'm not so actively pimping my photos though.

Edit: oh yes, and nice photo Colin. I like the look of the water lower right - nice wavelets and reflections.

How do you get rid of the groups? only joined most of them when the pimping comp was on can't seem to find the option to remove them, I think it'll take a while aswell, the amount I have on

Cheers

Re: I'm in Explore!!!

There's normally a small Quit link on the front page of the group... you may have to search a bit for it, but it should be on the right side of the page.
