Out this morning and all I got was a White-Tailed Sea Eagle (10 Images)
Hi,
Out again this morning after Roe Deer, managed to spook seven of them without a single photo, however I did come across this big beauty! My dad and I were busy watching down the hill when I turned around and caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of my eye, it was the Eagle landing on a tree stump about 100 yards from us, it sat for about a minute and then flew off into the edge of the wood where shots 3 - 10 were taken.
The first couple of it in flight are nothing great as light was terrible and fairly big crops, in fact the light for all of my shots was horrendous, some of the static shots are taken at 400 and 800 ISO with shutter speeds ranging from 1/40th to 1/125th .... oh for some sun!!
Never having seen one in the wild before you can imagine we were pretty excited.
All shot with Canon 1d Mark II - Sigma 500m F3.4 EX HSM - Tripod Mounted.

Very nice captures Mike, what a fantastic place you live to be able to get just a glimpse of the wildlife you have access to!
Must be a photographers paradise.

Hi,
thanks, I loved shooting it, as for Paradise well not sure about that, have you seen our weather lately it's almost been as bad as you Southerners make out
Seriously though I am spoiled here in the Kingdom of Fife for wildlife photography and long may it continue

Hi,
Thanks, I know exactly what you mean, however I knew it was in the area and managed to stay nice and calm when I caught the glimpse of it on the tree stump out of the corner of my eye and knowing it was still fairly tame helped too

Fingers crossed for better light later this week too as it was terrible when I took these shots, I would love to get some decent in flight shots.
Mike.

Hi Scott,
thanks, it is still pretty tame having just been released a few days ago, I don't think it will hang around long once they stop feeding them so I'll make the most of it this week
Mike.

Just an echo of the previous comments really.
Awesome bird, well captured and I'm incredibly envious of your opportunity and experience of seeing it.

Great shots - I would love to see one of these in the wild, let alone get pictures as good as yours

Well, sometimes you go out and just don't see anything, it's just the way with wildlife watching. Don't take it to heart, maybe next time you'll see something interesting.
Great shots btw.
