My first pictures with Nikon D40

Well thanks to your (collective) advice and a lot of reading I bought the Nikon D40, just thought I would put up my first pics. Subject matter not that brilliant as it never stops raining.

I won't keep bothering you all again until I get much better.

But I am absolutely thrilled with the results far far better than anything I've ever taken with my 7 megapixel compact - they are very basic but I'm happy nonetheless.

Good stuff there mate. You can see you've got some of the principles in your 'ead already and are giving consideration to the shot.
Keep it up.

Re: My first pictures with Nikon D40

Not bad for a first set of pictures.

The D40 is a very good camera for people getting to grips with digital SLRs.

Re: My first pictures with Nikon D40

Agree - good start. It's a great little camera to start with, that's for sure.

Just keep taking photos - it's one of the best ways to learn.

Re: My first pictures with Nikon D40

I love my D40 and spent 18 months with it so much so i will keep it even though I had my new D300 delivered this weekend. Now I have to start all over again, so many more buttons, but its great fun. My new camera has not been put down for more then 10 minutes at one time

Re: My first pictures with Nikon D40

Excellent stuff - its great to get out there and shoot. Just recently got a D40 myself as a 1st SLR and loving getting deep into all the settings etc...

So much to it, but great fun!
