Middle Earth

I know you are all probably getting bored with my Norway photos by now, but i am not

Taken in the longest mountain tunnel in Norway, they cut it straight through the middle of the mountain and its about 26km long.
This is smack bang in the middle with a pull in point and its lit up with green lighting, reall weird as you are approaching this section seeing the green glow in the distance.

Re: Middle Earth

Great stuff, love the colour and all the lead in lines from the lane markers in the composition

Those supports don't look strong enough to hold up a mountain.

Re: Middle Earth

What strange lighting, maybe it's that colour as green is easiest on the eye.

I would have absolutely no chance of getting my Mrs in there, she absolutely will not go into tunnels that are only short........26km, she'd have a coronary!

Re: Middle Earth

We went in another incredible tunnel Steve, its cut into a mountain vertically, it goes down about half a km in a corkscew fashion, you are permantely on a bend all the way down.
Whats nice about Norway is that all the gas and oil field revenue is owned by the state and it has used it to improve the infrastructure and the living standards of the population, unlike like us who gave it all to the fat cats

Hue am i to argue with that
Well i red the manual and thought i had done it allwhite, but its a bit of a grey area for me as i am i bit green when it comes to camera settings and tend to think its a bit of a black art, guess i just blue it this time.

Pick the bones out of that Tonto

Re: Middle Earth

You forgot to mention the purple patch you are going through, being green with envy, or perhaps how saturated you got at the waterfall?

Re: Middle Earth

Great shot - very interesting light. Why would they choose green!?

I'm enjoying this series, Barry. Perhaps we should have a new new thread dedicated to travelogues, with a selection of shots and some interesting anecdotes.

No idea about the choice of colour Scott, would hazard a guess that as there are only two main colours of nature in Norway, greyish black for the rock and green pine trees, so i would think they tried to create a bit of the outside colour in the middle of the mountain.

I am extremely pleased that you have enjoyed these Norway threads as i tend to either take photos for fun or for myself, not to post as great works of art (which they are not) and most of the photos have a bit of a story behind which needs to be added for others see what i saw when i took the photo.

I can only marvel at the quality of a lot of the Photographs posted on here by yourself and a lot of of others and have learnt a lot from them, for which i am grateful.

But we are all different and my outlook on it all is pretty basic really, to record what i see and experience so that i can always look back on them and recapture the moment and the feelings i had at the time when i took the photo, with all these forums its quite easy to loose site of what photography is really all about and be restricted by striving for technical excellence and to forget its just a hobby and it is there for our enjoyment and entertainment and if others find enjoyment in what i do, the pleasure is all mine.

Thanks again Scott

Barry

Re: Middle Earth

I think that's why alot of us enjoy your stuff Barry. It's like looking through your eyes. And certainly on the Norway trip, you/we have seen some pretty interesting things.
