Bristol Aztecs Youth vs. London Blitz.....20th July.
As the Americans would say, West. vs East today. Last game turned into a brawl! No love lost here but ironic that these are all inner city kids. Nice to see the application on the field however and not on the streets. When the game is over its pats on the backs for everyone.....
Nice to be out shooting some football since the return of my D3. Combined with the 300mm f/2.8 today.
Said it before and will say it again for all budding sports shooters, this is a tricky game to cover in that it is played backwards before it goes forward and its easy to loose the ball in the rucking that goes on. It is one of my favourite games however. Two or three years ago I would have covered everything in portrait but much prefer a 5 x 7 landscape shot now, it lends itself to the thirds rule and you get more upper body in.
Whats interesing to note is that having worked alongside a chap who has shot in the NFL, over there team photographers are wired up and know exactly where the next play is going. Its just photographers intuition for me sadly!

That last one's a bit good Pete . I'd even go as far as saying it's one of your best yet. The others aren't too bad either

Thanks - its funny, as soon as I saw the set up, I knew I had a killer shot. This is one of those shots that I get now and again, like the drugs, the mirror shot from guildford, the boxer etc, the homeless people, where it or something just works.....

Great action shots. Not just the movement, but the effort and emotion visible beneath the masks.
The last one is a beaut. But it and the one of the play notes work brilliantly as part of the set too.

Re: Bristol Aztecs Youth vs. London Blitz.....20th July.
Hello there
Seen these popping up on flickr and they are a great set.
Last ones a bit special, and you have caught the mood. Its like they are sharing a joke about something.
Cheers Holo

Very impressive stuff Pete. Sharper than a sharp thing as Vulkan says.
The last one is the pick for me though, advert material I reckon. Great stuff.
