Felt compelled to shoot the flying rats on the seafront this afternoon while Dylan played in the sea. Didn't have my shotgun, so had to use the camera.

Then this caught my eye.

#1 is really good. It's the background that makes the shot (as it does in lots of pics).

I'd lose the yellow lines and kerb at the bottom of the window shot just because everything else is level but that isn't, and it makes it look a bit strange. Seeing a square crop on your Flickr thumbnails made me think of that.

#2 Good timing with this one and focus on the gull, I've tried captuing these with their gob open with limited success.

#4 Another nice one, love the rich blue sky and the colours on the rocks in the foreground add to the composition.

It was the uneven lines that caught my eye - the curb rises from the right as well.

1 - I manually metered 2 stops down from the cloud in the sky.

4 - I'd forgotten that i'd left the camera set up to underexpose form a previous shot, and this was horribly underexposed. When I pulled it out from the RAW file the saturation was a bit crazy, so yes, i did tone it down. I also (rather cack handedly) do some de-saturation around the little paintings to try and lift them out a bit.

Re: leaving your camera on the wrong setting. I was taking pictures in the bright sunlight at ISO-3200 on Saturday afternoon........got to love those 1/8000 shutter speeds

I like the second shot looks like the one on the right is getting a right ear bashing from the one on the left

first and last for me scott.I love the smooth feel to your shots..is that because of older 35mm lenses or just that your that damn good?

That last one makes me think of a book I read, called timeline...it has a great feel to it.

For someone who doesn't like them much, you've shot hose seagulls very sympathetically. The muted colours, obv in the BW but especially the second, suit their colouring. I also really like the DOF in the second.
The window one appeals too. It's sort of hypnotic with all the different lines.
The last one I'm not really 'feeling' though. I can't seem to get a sense of depth from it. I think it's to do with the uniform lighting, but I just can't judge how far into the scene the different elements are. Hope I'm making sense, even if no-one else agrees?
