photos of the telly

How do you take good pictures of something,anything in fact thats been shown on your plasma. I know flash is out.

Any tips,just so I can show some of the members what my HD pictures are like.

Timer and set said camera on a stable object with the lights off seems to work for me when i tried it last.

If its a large tv, might be fun to show off the scale of things by putting in a recognisable object next to, on top of or in front of the tv. If you want to make it look huge, get a decent sized toy car and make it a silhouette against the tv - it would look like you've got a drive thru movie sized TV.

with old CRTs, it used to be that you needed a relatively slow shutter speed to avoid capturing the scanning beam partway through a picture.

LCDs are inherently progressive, and I think plasma is the same (but the way the picture is refreshed might be slightly different) so you should be able to get away with a fast shutter speed. that'll also help freeze motion.

on something like skyHD which is 50Hz, try a shutter speed of 1/100th second. aperture to about f8 for maximum quality. then use ISO to get an image that is bright/dark enough. or you could adjust the brightness/contrast on the TV to get the effect you like - doesn't matter if its too bright/dark to your eyes as long as it looks good on the photo
