Best compact - any recommendations please?

Hi there,

I am looking for a good quality compact camera, budget wise upto £300.

I need a general good all rounder with excellent pitcure quality, have been recommended Nikon P5000, S7c or the P600. Also the Canon G9 looks good but is not really a compact, I also appreciate this is a more expensive camera but I would go to this price.

Any help much appreciated.

Looks to me as though the G9 is now within your price range (see here), and I'd recommend that personally. I have it, and it's very good, and definitely pocketable (although admittedly more bulky than some others, but the options available are spot on). It's not really much cop above ISO 400, but I'm not sure that any of the others you mention are either to be honest.
