More Water Polo !

Tobers, try getting wet for a change - that horsey stuff looks easy !

Seriously though :-

Been down to the Colchester Leisure World again for this weeks game against Chelmsford, was looking forward to see what the D300 could do. Am not sure if there are many more difficult sports to photograph (suppose close ups of extreme rock climbing might be one) but the light in this place is useless.

Still I did get a few decent ones, some with flash, some without and with ISO up to 2000 sometimes, might get brave next time and go up to 3200.

After 4 or 5 trips I have still not got a decent shot of a goal or a save, its all so bloomin quick. Anyway, heres the latest bunch.

1

2

3

4

5 - ISO 800 F5.6 1/60th Flash

6 - Coffe break ! ISO 2000, F5.6, 1/60th No flash

7

8

9

10 - ISO 2000, F2.8 1/100th No Flash

11 - ISO 1600, F2.8 1/50th No Flash

12

13 - One for the ladies ! Probably the best so far

Have put a few Exif bits on to identify the no flash high ISO ones. Am going to try manual settings next time to get consistency plus a small amount of fill in flash with a 1/300th shutter speed to see what happens.

Any tips greatfully received.

Bill

Cripes that's a bit different! I love the way the flash stops the water mid-splash. The 1st is a goodie for me - lots of splash, good facial expression and I like the composition too.

Where's the noise at ISO 2000

Some cracking shots there Bill, #1 and #4 are my favorites.

Re: More Water Polo !

Great stuff

I love "Coffee Break". You just dont expect people in a pool to be drinking.

Re: More Water Polo !

#3 is my favourite I like the way you've captured the water.

Re: More Water Polo !

Nice pics Bill - 1,4, 6 and 8 for me. Very low noise on the high iso pics too. Do you have a diffuser for the flash? I'm no expert but it may soften the effect on the faces?

Speaking of which - I ordered that Canon Ringflash, I can't wait to get snapping in the garden. I even have a lego man picture in mind for a competition...
