finding number of shots taken-300d

can anyone tell me how to find out the number of shots i've taken with my canon 300d.i emailed canon,but all they said was take it to a service centre as only they could do the procedure

Hi,

can't check via the 300D like you can on 1D series, you will only know from the memory card if it has been the only one used from time of purchase, ie: take a photo, check the photo number on the lcd screen and if it's the original card then that will be the shutter count, this changes if using a couple of different cards, not sure if that makes sense?

ok thanks,the numbers on my memory card read 118-1851 do i take the second number as shots taken?
