Few Butterflies from Bristol Zoo

Took the children to the Zoo again today for a short trip out.

They now have a butterfly enclosure, so managed a number of shots with the macro before being dragged off by the wife and kids to the park

Pretty hard getting them in focus, as the macro isn't the fastest to focus and had a bit of a fuzzy head this morning - which doesn't happen very often nowadays, which makes it worse.

Here you go..

Forcing myself to use Black and White to hopefully get better at it, so sorry if you were expecting colour.

Re: Couple of Butterflies from Bristol Zoo

Cracking shots and they work really well in B&W. Would be good to see what they are like in colour.

Re: Couple of Butterflies from Bristol Zoo

Hello there

Nicely done IMHO i think the B&W works really well, especially the slight tone you have used in #2

Cheers Holo

Re: Couple of Butterflies from Bristol Zoo

Thanks for the comments.

B&W vs Colour.....

Butterflies are not the obvious choice for B&W I know but I'm forcing myself to just work in B&W to try and improve my skills - rather than trying B&W if I don't like the colour version. Also been been playing duotones, but I admit I have no idea what I'm doing, just seem to play with the sliders and see what I get and #2 was an attempt of trying to 'warm' the photo a little. Not sure if it worked or not, and I did try and do something similar with #3, but that looks completely different - so not sure what happened there!

So, there are no colour versions of the photos, since I was using Sandisk B&W Memory in my camera

I was hoping to get around more of the zoo today, but the kids were more interested in playing in the park. We are only 10mins from the zoo and have membership - so I guess they have seen the animals once or twice before!

Anyway, thanks for the comments!
