Woodlouse!

Found this little bugger wandering across my carpet yesterday, I found that a quick tap about an inch in front of him made him stop dead in his tracks - just long enough for me to get a good macro shot of him

I'm actually quite pleased at how this came out, these Sigma 70-300 lenses are really worth their money on the image quality!

Click through for the full size, it's almost as though he's looking at the camera

EDIT: Only just noticed the hair in the photo!

Re: Woodlouse!

Aww.. Nice catch!

Is that at full zoom and did you use AF? Trying to learn before I get my kit.

Re: Woodlouse!

Yes to both questions, full zoom with AF. This is a 100% crop to get it this big though.

Re: Woodlouse!

Like the texture and dof of the carpet. It almost looks like a strange sort of moss. The hair looks like a steel cable in relation to the louse crawling over it.
Nice capture.

At first glance I thought the louse was crawling over a glass disc.

Hope my Tamron 70 - 300 can do that well, only one way to find out

Re: Woodlouse!

Thank's for the comments guy's - thought this one might be interesting. The woodlouse itself was extremely small, must of been an adolescent, so I was pretty surprised to have captured such detail.

Re: Woodlouse!

Very well done and I can see why you are liking that lens, very sharp.
