Thanks: Gave 35, Got 31 | Flickr... How do you organise yours?!
I'm normally an "organised" sort of person, but just can't seem to find a way to neatly store my images on Flickr. What do others do when it comes to creating Sets and Collections?
I must have re-jigged mine half a dozen times now - based on date, based on subject matter, based on location. No matter what I do I seem to struggle to collate them in such a way as to have them "easily" accessible, and organised in a relevant fashion. Any tips?!
K.

Hi Kelvin,

Never used flickr, use webshots, but recently tried out .mac web gallery, not the best looking out there, but with iphoto you can add new images and rearrange them and it automatically syncs them...

I use Sets mainly as public facing displays of my work. I use tags to access my own photos.

I have my photos stored in sets according to genre, event or type. But the beauty of flickr is that one photo can be stored in any number of sets. I also then have 4 collections that I store the sets in. These are "My Most Interesting Photos", "Travel", "Creative & Artistic" and "Family & Friends". These 4 collections are on the opening page of my stream.
The set manager that Holow linked to is good plus flickr's own organize tool is useful too.

I don't have a pro account, so i'm limited to just 3 sets or collections (i can't remember which), and I link to my account from my website that uses a flash applet to read a given set/collection.
So... I have the three sets as follows:
My Favourites
Flora and Forna
All Photo's
If you have a Pro account though, it's a completely different kettle of fish, although I would always have a 'My Favourites' set, and if I were a popular Flickr contributor, I'd probably have a 'Your Favourites' set too, for the photo's deemed interesting by the community. Along with the usual Landscape; portrait; family; friends; pets; B+W; Wild Animals; plants; Holidays; Sunsets; abstract; macro...

Casually using sets for now but I really need to tag and do collections/sets properly
Other day I spent nearly an hour just organising my photos on LR into sets - not even tagged them... I dread having to do it on flickr
Should have thought this out
