cannon EOS40D LCD SCREEN PROBLEM,HELP

Hi,can the lcd screen be turned of so only the viewfinder is used ? mine hase gone of but still shows the pictures when taken and also still allows pictures to be viewed but i cannot find anything in instructions to help,am i missing something or is it a fault?

Are you talking about the rear screen
do you mean the live view is not working
or are you talking about the LCD screen on the top panel

Re read your post sounds like the rear screen
if you have live view activated you normally press the select button to turn it on its not normal to use it all the time for normal shooting I only use it when mounted on a tri pod

No i am not up and running ,thought it was back on but it was not,the camera is set in live view mode but the rear screen is not on.
