Photographic Exhibition - Heads Up

As I have said many times before there are some outstanding photographers that use this forum so I thought I would give you all a heads up.

Aqueducte 08 is an bi-annual exhibition in Spain and they are accepting images for their next exhibition, closing date for entries 3rd April 2008 so you will have to be quick.

As a guide, all images must be 1024x768 pixels and any spare space around the image must be filled in a solid colour, usually black.

So, if you have an image 1024x683 then in Photoshop simply go to Image -> Canvass Size and uncheck the constrain proportions box and make the image 1024x768. Save it to less than 800kb and then simply upload it to the site using the, franky hilarious, English instructions. Shots that are in portrait format need to be 768x1024.

I have entered 4 colour and 4 mono and I have ordered a catalogue because I didn't realise it was free to enter at the time

So, just open the site link above, click on the UK flag for registration and you are away.

I have entered these:

Good Luck!!

Re: Photographic Exhibition - Heads Up

Good shout Steve. I like your entries, reckon they should go down well.

As for the language.....

I'm thinking of entering a couple of shots but the following sentence has me a tad confused!

"If it inscribes works in anyone of the sections A or B, he won't be able to choose the restricted participation"

What the heck does it mean?!

Does it mean if you enter A or B you can't enter the other sections?

Re: Photographic Exhibition - Heads Up

I have no idea what that means. Usually though you can't enter the same shot in more than one section, maybe it refers to that?

Nope, not that I am aware of. It's just an exhibition of photography, not a competition as such though all entries will be judged and only a certain amount will be accepted in.

Re: Photographic Exhibition - Heads Up

No worries, I reckon we could put quite a strong entry in as a forum.

If you do put entries in, pop the shots up in this thread as well

Actually, reading that again, I think restricted participation means that you don't order the catalogue which is $55 from memory, and i'm now not sure which sections A + B were

As I said, I ordered a catalogue because I didn't realise there was a free entry element, that might apply to the nature and travel sections, not sure.

edit: Just had another look and sections A + B are the prints, so you can enter 4 colour and 4 mono digital images for free Make sure that fit the sizes described above though. Also make sure they are .jpg and NOT .jpeg as the latter won't upload to the site

Re: Photographic Exhibition - Heads Up

It it has uploaded correctly and all the information is there you should get a screen with a downloadable receipt (.pdf from memory) which gives you a run down of your entry and a 'packet' number. Maybe try again Gordon.

Re: Photographic Exhibition - Heads Up

I don't understand, should we be entering in categories A and B, or C and D?

Re: Photographic Exhibition - Heads Up

I think you will find that Sections A+B are for printed work which has to be posted to the organisers, whereas sections C+D are for digital images which can be uploaded and no entry fee is charged

Re: Photographic Exhibition - Heads Up

Well I've only entered the monochrome, I'm not confident enough of my colour photos yet.

Also I got the same result as Gordon, have you had any luck since then trying again? Maybe I shouldn't use Firefox, although it seemed to be a server-side issue.

Here are the four I entered:

Re: Photographic Exhibition - Heads Up

I would also expect a confirmation email if it were to work.

I reckon you might have a point about the book. That's amusing.

Maybe I'll try again later tonight...

Damn them and their time wasting antics!
