My trip to Greece last week (photos)
Hi everyone, I went to greece for a week, to visit the girlfriend and some friends, and just to escape for a while. I spent 3 days in Athens, 3 days in Patra for the Carnival, which is the biggest carnival in the Balkans and it's during the Orthodox Halloween, and then we went for sightseeing for a couple of days, going all over Peloponnese peninsula, which is the bottom part of Greece as you see it on the map. Needless to say that I drove for about 1200Km in 2 days, but it was all worth it. Anyway, I had a great time and here are some photos from my trip.
1. This is me, at Monemvasia. I know the horizon is tilted, it was just an amazing place. The point I am lying drops straight to jagged rocks and the sea some 600ft. No place for people who are afraid of heights. I on the other hand love heights.
2.This is the church of Ayia Sofia again in Monemvasia. Beautiful place.
3.Some stairs at Monemvasia
4.This is Aggelos, a friend of mine, watching the sunset at Pylos, near the Castle of Navarino. This is the place where the famous battle of Navarino took place in 1827.
5.Abandoned. Not many tourists visit these places this time of the year, even though IMO this is the best time to visit Greece, when it's not too hot and not too crowded either. This is at Zacharo, near Pyrgos.
6.The beach near the salt lake of Kaiafas, under the Enormous mountain of Taygetos.
7.Monemvasia, the Old Town as seen from the Castle.
8.Monemvasia, the way to the castle.
9.Monemvasia, on the way to the castle.
10.Monemvasia
11.Monemvasia, in the Old Town. I think that my choice of aperture wasn't the best, I would've liked it if the photo was sharp throughout the frame, but at the time I thought it would be nice to keep the dog in focus.
12.Navarino, Aggelos, Nandia and Sylvia.

All comments, critique and advice is wellcome. Thanks for looking

Re: My trip to Greece last week (photos)
Some excellent pics there.
I like #1 - your body gives a nice idea of scale. I'm slightly concerned your legs are 8 feet long though.
#3 is also very good. It gives a great sense of time passing as lots of feet have worn the steps down. Nice monochrome treatment too.
#8 now there's a lead line for you. The wiggling path (how tiring is that to walk up) takes the eye zig-zagging all the way down to the little village.

Re: My trip to Greece last week (photos)
Thanks Tobers,
I really appreciate your comments.
It's not the lens distorting the photo, i do have 8ft legs . Crazy effect isn't it? All photos taken with the 10-20mm, mostly at 10mm. As I said, the first photo is just for fun and I am glad you like it!
Yeah it was tiring climbing up the hill. The worst part was we had our women with us, talk about chatterboxes . As if it was our fault the hill was steep. And when we tried to tell them that it's ok, they could wait for us at the village they would start complaining that we don't want them and that we always do stuff without them etc etc

Re: My trip to Greece last week (photos)
All really nice shots, did you use HDR treatment on any of them?
#11 stands out for me

Re: My trip to Greece last week (photos)
Thanks ash, stevegreen and poisonjam for your great comments. I am glad you liked them.
I haven't used HDR as such, meaning that I just combined 2 exposures in photoshop for numbers 2, 7 and 8, using gradients in layer masks.
Thanks for looking
