Thanks: Gave 2, Got 1 | Buying Sony Alpha200 in US
Hi
Looking at the price in US i found this link http://www.bwayphoto.com/viewproduct.aspx?id=9785674
this looks <£250 which is a very nice price.
IS there any issue to buy in the state. My plan is to ask a friend to buy it (he lives there) and I meet him in a month and take the camera back with me.
the problem I can imagine :
charger ?
waranty ?
other ?
thanks

Charger would be fine with an adaptor or simply pickup a cheap Uk one. The issue with warranty is that it would need to be sent back to the US for repairs / claims against it/ Having a friend in the US would make this do-able for you though.
The main thing to consider is this; Is the saving enough to allow for potential future problems? If it's £50 then for me it's simply not worth the hassle / risk. A few £100 and it becomes viable

I bought my A100K in the USA. No problems, just remember that when updating firmware, you'll need the Asia or USA version. Plug for charger: either get an adapter or cut plug off and fit a UK one.
You'll need to check with the vendor about warranty. It'll either be a USA or International one. If you get a reciept in your friends name, should you get tapped-up by customs on your return, you can say you was given it as a gift.

Remember, this doesn't remove the obligation on you to declare it on entry and pay the necessary duties and taxes.
Of course, you may not choose to do so... |

I've heard of this shop... "bwayphoto.com".
Not sure if it's true or not, but someone commented on the web (so it must be true) that they sell the kit with bits missing (batterys, chargers etc).
Not really a company to do business with I think!

Don't buy from that company; they are awful and will never actually send you the camera for that price
