Ebay bidding and my new toy :D

Just thought I'd share a little tip with you along with my new toy - that of patience on ebay.

I've been after one of these for ages now. A look on ebay shows that they've been going for all kinds of prices - a damaged one went yesterday for £60, a red one for close to £100. No real pattern that I could make out.

Anyway, I've been patiently watching them twice a week and just trying to be present at the auction end - just in case one goes for cheap. And I've just managed to snap up this one:

the cheapest in 3 months :D

Anyway, not particularly exciting - a decent little compact that's maybe of use for nights out. Until you look at my other ebay purchase of late:

I'll show you the results shortly :E

Bit of a bargain...and it shows the value of showing off your goods with proper pics.

I'm glad you did that - I;ve been looking for a cheap way into underwater (specifically in water surf photography) and thought ebay would be a good way to do it.

I've not really bid on anything yet as I'm unsure of wether to get the camera first or the housing.

Cool!

Sold my film Sea and Sea camera a while ago after deciding that I couldn't be bothered with film anymore.

But that looks like a great pair of gadgets for diving.

40m will also more than enough for scuba (using a compact), any deeper and you loose light and really need more than onboard flash (from what I can remember!).

Re: Ebay bidding and my new toy :D

I don't really know what to expect, I knew from reading about underwater photography that the 35mm lens isn't really wide or fast enough and that the max ISO of 200 probably won't do me any favours either...

But for £80 it's got to be worth a shot Might persuade me to take up Scuba again, I've got my BSAC but when I was in Cambodia we were suffering a typhoon and living in Edinburgh nowdays isn't exactly inspiring...
