**(NEW)** Sony DSC-H50 (Prosumer/Bridge) - Heads-Up

Ahoy!

Check this out:

http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProduct.action?product=DSC-H50&site=odw_en_GB&imageType=Main&category=DCC+Dig ital+Still+Cameras

Looks good for anyone considering a 15x optical prosumer camera with OIS and a HUGE LCD.

Price . . I have no idea, though it's suggested RRP is $400.00 in the USA.

Due out in March.

Re: **(NEW)** Sony DSC-H50 (Prosumer/Bridge) - Heads-Up

I am going to bet on the Fuji S100FS being better, because it uses a larger sensor to combat noise.

The IQ results I saw from other Sony bridge cameras were dire IMHO because of noise and over agressive noise reduction. Though I am comparing against a DSLR - most of these bridge cameras pale in the IQ stakes in comparison.

The H50 is no R1...

The H50 has an option to switch the noise off and also does RAW. Which is a first for the H range. I have a dsc-h7, but that has never worried me as I have always been a jpg person. The H50 is a H7/H9 replacement they least could have got the number a bit closer

This is one image from my H7 that stands out and it has also made explore on flickr

Exposure: 0.2 sec (1/5)
Aperture: f/3.5
Focal Length: 23.4 mm
ISO: 800

Oh and it was hand held

Are you sure it handles raw ? i only ask because i was considering this camera for the other half to use (and me occasionally) and on the sony website it only gives recording format as jpeg. the only place raw is mentioned as far as i can see is in relation to noise reduction.
