Has anyone used Quidco?!

Just thought I'd ask as I thought I saw it mentioned in someone's thread a wee while back.

Just checked Froogle for a D300 and found it at Currys for £999 (using a £100 voucher). Can this be used when going through Quidco, saving another 3.5% (£35)?

I was thinking of getting it from Dixons Duty free in a couple of weeks (£1036 inc. 8GB Extreme III CF card) but not so sure now.

Also, do you think this will be price matched by other retailers?

use quidco all the time, it's great for when you renew house or car insurance as you get upto £100 back

I've used Quidco since May 2005. So far I've had ~£350 paid to me in cash backs and have another ~£200 in the pipeline.

You can certainly use Quidco with Currys, but your purchase must be made online. Discount codes work as well, but you cannot walk into a store, with vouchers, and expect to use Quidco. How would Quidco know you'd made the transaction? Actually, more than that - why would Currys give any money to Quidco, to give to you, if you walked through the door of your own accord? It's a bit of a joke really, but one I'm happy to take advantage of, but Currys are really just paying Quidco a "commission" for directing you to the Currys website. The fact that you deliberately went to the Quidco site first, simply to get another ~3% off, seems to be ignored in their peculiar business model.

By the way, going marginally off topic, I just renewed my car insurance. Admiral wanted ~£300 - about the same as last year - but I got a quote with Moreth>n for £217. By going through Quidco to get to the Moreth>n website I got a cash back of £75, making a net renewal of ~£142. Not bad for fully comp on a Nissan 200SX with protected no claims

Just a little teaser (You'll see the £75 from February already validated, just awaiting payment to be made. Most of that £40ish in September was for my Canon 40D, from Jessops )....

I've used Quidco before and would definitely recommend starting to use it if you haven't signed up already. No problems for me so far.

I order quiet a lot of stuff online (prob a purchase every 2 weeks) and have noticed people are always saving money via quidco.

From memory...

1. Sign up and supply your bank details.
2. Go to an online retailer via the Quidco site and the links they have there.
3. Make a purchase exactly as you would normally do.
4. Check back on Quidco a day or two later (sometimes hours, rarely a few days) to see if your cash back has been acknowledged, and when payment is expected to be made.
5. Go back to 2. etc..

They will take an annual fee of £5 but, unless things have changed, they take this from your cash back payments. You do not have to pay any money up front.

You can carry on using price search websites to find the best prices on things. When the time comes to buy, don't click their links. Instead, go to Quidco and click theirs.

ive read that they dont always pay (something to do with declining or something??)

its just i have my car insurance due this time next month and as i am only 21 and male you can see i could potentially save quite alot of cash (i hope)

is there any tips you have when using the site or does it always seem to work for you?

I've had to raise a query with them a couple of times (not necessarily about payments) and they have always responded within 24 hours by email. Personally I have never had a problem with payments - nothing declined or lost.

They do warn that if you have conflicting cookies on your machine (that's how they track the sales) then your cash back might get processed to the competitor site - e.g. Rpoints, maybe, or something like that. Touch wood I've never had that problem, and Quidco are the best payers on pretty much everything so they're all I use these days.

Browsers routinely use "cookies" to store helpful information about your visits - like your login details for AVForums. Many sites insist you allow cookies in order for them to operate. IMHO they really do no harm and there is really no need to be afraid of them. Some people think they are the spawn of Satan as far as privacy/spyware is concerned.

There's no easy answer to 100% reliability, but like I say, I've never had a problem in almost three years of using Quidco. If you want to be sure your purchases get tracked correctly you can first wipe ALL your cookies before you make the purchase, but then you will have to log in again at all your favourite websites (including Quidco) and perhaps reset some site preferences for some of them. It's not a huge deal but can be a bit tedious.

I have installed a seperate browser for quidco use just in case of cookies. Opera is a good one to have as it doesn't take much diskspace.

quidco works great just clean out your cookies before logging into quidco and you shouldn't have any problems. When you look at a merchant in quidco it tells you to the right their % of successful tracks, tracking speed and payment speed so you'll have an idea how long it takes to get your money. I've made £400ish in just over a year from it
