Thanks: Gave 481, Got 254 | Digiscoped moon shots using Liveview on D300
I've been experimenting with the Liveview in Tripod mode on my D300.
This mode allows you to digitally zoom in to a specific area to improve the manual focusing - in theory.
It actually works very well. But - - it's still hard to focus the scope as the moon travels real fast across your view when you are focused on one small part of it. It also shows every tiny tremor of the tripod and head, as if you are in the middle of an earthquake.
The "slivers" of moon were taken about a week ago and the fuller shots were taken this afternoon in bright sunlight.
I've experimented a bit on the first one to try and reduce the washed out effect you get by shooting in daylight.
The second shot is more "out of the camera"
All have had some unsharp applied.

Very good. I like #1 best because it is in daylight and more unusual for that. Looks like a very interesting pastime. Can you get any of Mars or Saturn?

I'd love to have the use of a proper astronomers scope though.

Cropped to 100%

One of mine from yesterday morning @ 09.42. Adjusted a tad. Daylight moonshots are quite detailed.
