Open a NEF file in Capture and look at the file info. You'll see a shutter/actuation number.

Download opanda iexif, set your camera to Jpeg, if you right click the last image you have taken you shoud see an option View Exif/gps/iptc with Iexif. Half way down you shoud see shutter actuations.
Remember it only works for JPEG not NEF
