Re: L lenses?

L stands for Luxury.
They are better made, use some of the best glass components etc etc

You can tel lthe difference in build quality and depends on who you ask as to whether you see differnece in IQ.
Plus you get a red ring round the end of your lens telling potential muggers your lens cost a small fortune

Re: L lenses?

They just happen to be the best quality glass available from Canon, hence the premium price tag.

Top quality optics, excellent buid quality, lovely to operate. Once you try one you're done for!

Great stuff! Was that really in November 06? Doesn't time fly.

The whole L business always makes me laugh. Why call them Luxury? at least call it something vaugely meaningful like 'Pro'

Re: L lenses?

They are great, but you need to be careful in what you spend based on what or how you shoot. if you are a pro, then yes look at the L stuff, but note that there are decent non L optics out there which if you are putting images onto a PC would look fine.

Pete.
