My first real attempt at a 'Street' portrait

The building next to the one where I work is being demolished so I grabbed the opportunity to get a portrait of one of the workers there.

I have to say that this is the first time that I have attempted to take a picture of a 'stranger' and I was very nervous, probably a hell of lot more nervous than the subject and I found it quite difficult.

But I had a chat with him first and tried to relax and came up with this.

Demolition Man

I'm not sure about it. I wanted to show more of the background and it's difficult to get people to express the facial expression that you are after. I suppose you have a set shot in mind and it's disappointing when the end result is not what you were aiming for.

But, it's a first for me so a barrier broken. This is something I would like to do more of so the learning curve begins!

Took this with my new 24-70 f/2.8 and the quality straight out of the camera is astounding!

Re: My first real attempt at a 'Street' portrait

Thanks mate. I only took four shots, it was a bit difficult 'cos all of his workmates were barracking him as well. I think I probably threw myself in at the deep end a bit

Re: My first real attempt at a 'Street' portrait

I think it works really well.
There is plenty in the background to give the viewer an idea of the context.
He looks like your typical down to earth, 'calls a spade a spade' type builder.
I didn't realise you could speak Polish!
Oh, sorry, realised he's not a builder - he's an un-builder!

Good to see you're enjoying your new gear too!
