Much better than ducks in my opinion. I like the way you've composed/cropped the first one. It would be cool to have a bit of light in the beast's eye though just to liven it up a tad. Get in there with Photoshop

Cows always seem to look really annoyed, whether thats because they tend to be stuck in a field all day I don't know - number 2 is a great shot and as tobers mentioned, the composition on number 1 is great.

Been seing these pop up on your flickr lately

I like the 1st of the 2nd bunch best. You could maybe have used fill flash to get a catch light and bring out the detail. Colour works better than B&W here for me.
