Thanks: Gave 46, Got 15 | New camera help
Right, to start off im not the most competent with cameras, ive really just used ones my family have passed down to me over the years. However i do like having a camera on me most of the time to take snaps of things i like. I wont fiddle with most settings and the like, i just want something that takes good photos without having to know lots and lots about photography! The main thing i want is clear sharp pictures and vivid colours.
Ive always used fuji cameras and to be honest they've always been brilliant. However i did look at the fuji z10fd and was a bit underwhelemed by the reviews and it seems its more focused on being availiable in lots of colours than taking good photos.
I have however made a shortlist of cameras that i think would fit the bill.
Canon ixus 75 (seems to have mixed reviews from websites)
Sony dsc t200 or t70 (not sure which yet)
Or a panasonic one with intellegent auto? im not sure
and ideally dont want to spend over £200
Thanks in advance!

The main things I look for are.
Good optical zoom so that I can switch off digital zoom in the settings as this destroys picture quality.
It must have a optical view finder, relying on a LCD display is madness in very dark or very bright places.
A friend of mine has just gone through all this pain and came out the other side with a very good camera. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-IXUS-9...8229106&sr=8-1 |

Yeah that cannon seems really good for that price on amazon. And from reviews it seems to be good at picture quality which is what im mainly looking for. But do things like intellegent auto mode on the panasonic make much difference? and on the sony having image stablisation and face detection make it worth shelling out a bit more?

I suggest Sony and Panasonic ones, because recently Canon focus on DSLR market and changed all good staff to their High-end teams, EOS 1Ds Mark III is the prove, at the same time, compact camera marketing is not very good... But Sony and Panasonic recently are focus on compact camera marketing, I think T2/T200/T70 is good, t200/T70 only different is on LCD screen size, you can choose it from here.
Panasonic is good for FX33/55, TZ3 is also not bad.
I suggest this website:
now it is 15% cut sales...

I think its down to the Canon ixus 950is and the Panasonic DMC FX33. The sony one does look good but ive had personal use with sonys of the past and they seemed to be quite tough to use.

Out of the two it has to be the Canon, if just to have a optical viewfinder, don't get me wrong I own a FZ7 super zoom camera which is excellent, but does have that viewfinder.
When my friend and I looked around for his canon we had popped into the Jessops shop and I commented on most cameras not having viewfinders and the shop assistant had to agree that basically it suited the brits as we do not get a lot of sunshine over here to wipe out the LCD display, they just get moans when people come back from abroad cursing not having the option.

Seems like the canon will be the best bet. Ill scoot round for the cheapest price for this. A bit off topic but if i do go for the ixus what range of accessories should i go for? a bag? but i cant think of much else.

A bag yes, but some fast memory is always useful, buy too slow and you will be waiting between pictures, I use Sandisk Extreme III and rather than buy 1 2Gb card I would go for 2x1Gb cards in case of failure in one.
