Rumours: Sony-Zeiss 24-70 f2.8 SSM
Some photos are doing the rounds of a possible:
Sony/Carl Zeiss 24-70 f2.8 SSM
Estimated price around US$1800-2000
Similar price also estimated for a rumoured Sony-Zeiss 16-35
No official word from Sony yet. Sony haven't announced the existence or plans for the lens, let alone a release date!

Makes sense for their rumoured FF body in 2008. Looks big doesn't it - very chubby.

If those prices are right it's another slap in the face for Sony owners, they like charging for their glass don't they, considering the Canon 24-70 f/2.8 L series can be had for little under £750

It's a similar price to the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
Canon's website says SRP is £1140 (1140 GBP = 2260 USD)
Couldn't find the SRP price in the US.
Obviously the prices quoted from Sony would be SRP.
But obviously with a CZ badge, this adds much more value than just a capital "L"

Interesting, so using the same equation for the difference between the srp price and the actual selling price, that would make Canon lens dearer than the Sony lens.
Looks like another slap in the chops for the Canon owners 
Glad i bought a Sony

Size might not always be everything, but when it's got a CZ logo [aka Dirt Diggler] then that's another matter
