Thanks: Gave 699, Got 870 | Embedding Photos
I am fed up with posting thumbnail photos, so i would be grateful if someome could tell me in very simple terms how to embed a photo on here.
Bearing in mind it took me ages to get the hang of resizing, please show me how in the most simple and easily followed method so that i can write it down
and refer to it every time i post so that eventually it will become second nature to me.
Many thanks

Well here's two questions: Do you post your photos to a Flickr account? and Do you use Firefox for your browser?
If you answer yes to both those questions then I could explain how to install a few things to make it very easy.

Unfortunately not, i am not technically minded at all i am afraid, dont even know what a firefox browser is
I was hoping there was a a way of doing it just using an AVF function here, without having a flicker account etc.
Ah well thanks for replying, guess i will stick with thumbnails

OK, I'll assume you have a flickr site set up - if you don't, then set one up! it's free and easy.
This is the easy way, which embedds the image in the thread, but doesn't link it back to the flickr photo page. Get this mastered first before confusing matters with a link back
1. Select your image on the flickr site, then click the all sizes button on the top of the image.
2. I always use the 500 pixel option, to ensure I don't go over the 200k limit, but you may wish to post a larger version - especially if your not linking back yet.
When you have chosen your size, copy and paste the url from the bottom of the image.
3. Open up a new thread (or reply) in the forum.
Too add your image, click on the little picture of a mountain:
paste your url into this window, and it will appear in your reply looking somethign like this:
<IMG> http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m311/Liquids101/Embedd.jpg</IMG>
But with [ ] 's and not < >'s
Then, when you hit the post button it shoudl appear, like so: EDIT: Set up a flickr account! |

I will give it some thought and have a go later this week, is it possibe to e mail me the info you posted so that i can print it off and study and refer to it.
Thanks
Edit, thanks Scott, no need to e mail it now as i have wrote it all down

Bodoman - setting up a Flickr account is really really easy. It only takes a couple of minutes, and then all your problems will go away .
It's no more difficult to signing up to this forum. Honest. Just go to www.flickr.com and select "sign up" and away you go. You'll be asked to set up a Yahoo ID (Yahoo owns Flickr and use the Yahoo ID to get onto Flickr). This is much like setting up your user name on this forum.
Once you have that, you can upload pics (again very easy), and then link to them as Liquid explains to get them displayed as embedded pics on this forum.

Thanks Tobers, i have just had a go and set up a flikr account (i think)
and uploaded a photo to it and will think about the rest of the process and hopefully get it sorted today.
(sorry to be a pain, but i have a problem with short term memory and i overcome it by writing things down and keep referring to it until it becomes second nature by repetition)

Bodoman, I assure you that it is really as simply as Scott has described it.
The only other thing to note is that when you copy the URL address from flicker, it will start with http://
When you click on the little image icon within your message box, that will similarly start with http://.
you need to only use one instance of http:// so delete the one you get within the little box before you copy the one you got from flickr
One way to see how it is done is to quote a post with an image and see how the embeded image looks within it
