Thanks: Gave 316, Got 221 | Some shots from the Tate Modern
My sister and brother-in-law were up visiting the weekend before last and I took them down to South Bank and the Tate Modern. The Tate Modern is always a great venue for a photographer, but I particularly liked the current installation in the turbine hall, a very photogenic 167m long crack (called Shibboleth and according to the artist representing the racial segregation of immigrants in western society). I wouldn't mind going back there as since my visit I've thought of lots of different interesting shots I could do. I'll say one thing though, if you do go, don't be afraid to wedge your camera in the crack you can get some great long exposure shots that way (I don't think they allow tripods though, although I didn't try). I also enjoyed taking photos on the elevators (clichéd I know!) - I always am too worried to do that on the tube, as I'll just get stopped and accused of being a terrorist LOL (maybe even get shot at point blank range if I'm unlucky!)
Anyway all of these were taken in the Tate Modern, except 9 which was taken just outside:

@lightpainter - it's more impressive than you'd think. I was pretty unsure of it before I saw it. I wouldn't necessarily call it true art though, but a lot of "installation art" is like that, it's more about impact than any traditional aesthetics. Apparently the artist was a bit annoyed though as rather than questioning the meaning behind the work (ie. racial segregation) everyone comes away from it questioning how it was done (I've no idea! It's very impressive though whatever they did)

In terms of people liking the art installation, looks like it's split down the middle
Great shots ... I need to head down there myself and check it out.

I love how in business I can't breathe nowadays cause the HSE are squeezing everything so hard, risk assesement, method statement.
Yet, someone is allowed to put a big crack down a floor, call it art and no one minds about people tripping etc, shouldn't that thing be fenced off |

I spotted these on your Flickr Jon and #8 steals it for me, especially the girl right in the distance taking a similar shot
