A close escape and other macros

I was just too late to catch this wasp, which had flown into a large Orb spider's web, fighting with the owner of the web and then breaking free. It settled on a nearby leaf to wash off the bits of web.

Hoverfly

And a web covered in dew

All with Nikon D50, Tamron 90mm Macro.

Thanks for looking.
Any C & C welcome.

Mike

Were these cropped any Mike? Especially the second.

The first was cropped slightly, other two are original size.

Re: A close escape and other macros

That second one is amazing, the out of focus section bottom right doesn't help the composition but the clarity and focus on the subject is sheer quality

Re: A close escape and other macros

Thanks Steve, I am concentrating on getting the composition right in camera and not relying so much on cropping in PP.
I took these with the onboard flash and a homemade flash diffuser:

I am quite pleased with how well this works.

So up close.
The web reminds me of a beaded mosaic.
Nice work.

Re: A close escape and other macros

Looks like allie.c has got competition !

Will have to make one of those flash diffusers, great idea. And the Tamron lens looks interesting.

Re: A close escape and other macros

Great captures Jomike.

The second one is really superb, absoutley spot on Focus. I have the tamron lens as well and it is superb.

Interesting Diffuser, it looks like it worked well as the light is excellent in the second image.

Alistair.
