Flickr and me one year on

So its my flickr anniversary today.... The current stats: 6,987 views / 528 photos.

1 year later and over 1 image a day posted to flickr, thats not bad and if you add the factor that my flickr account did not go pro until december 06 thats even better.

So what have I learned from flickr ?
Post your images and don't worry about comments or even views as they will come. I have a range of images on my flickr and every day its something new. I recently started learning manual focus and working with it to produce some very nice images. I am happy with my images and can see a big improvement which even my other has said to me recently about.

I have been on a few meets, 1 from the avforums and a few others from the Manchester flickr group. Meets are good and its nice to take some images with others but I seem to pick up very little until after these ? Which is nice but for me I would like a meet to be a bit more of a school eveyone learns something out of it. Maybe this is something for next year ?

So Flickr what have you done for me ? Well it has picked me up when I was down and I have learned that my images are well my images. If I don't like them how will others.

So in December I will renew my pro membership and I will move on and learn some more tips and tricks and other things.

Well below is some of my images and the ones that stand out to me, both good and bad.

Mexico Beach

The above has been an image that I have never been happy with but flickr seems to like it.

London Bridge

This makes me happy it just seems to work well.

Lamp Post

I posted this on the forums and got feedback to say that it had no punch so I went back to it and the above is the result. Thats what I like other views that push you.

The Urbis

This is based on another image that I found on flickr, its different to the other image but for me it was an image that moved me from p+s to more thinking about what I wanted the picture to look like.

AVForums June Competition - My First

The birds, they still make me . This made me think more about my images and has made me take more time on them.

So overall I am very, very happy with images and with flickr. I even got some Moo cards this week and they are excellent.

So on Saturday I will be away for a 2 weeks, a deserved holiday.

So thank you to everyone who has ever viewed any of my images.

Cheers
PixelPixel

That's why I like Flickr too. You get constructive comments and ideas, which you can take on board and try to improve the picture. I've had a few pictures on mine where cloning off some distractive elements have helped. It's a great resource for inspiration too. Here's to another year on flickr pixelpixel.

Thanks for the comments. You also have images that you will like and then when you put them on flick they do nothing. Still trying to work that one out.

I just notice that a 350D is going on the cheap on the forum, shame I am on holiday this weekend as I would have went for it. As that is what I want, a compact is fine, a bridge is even better. But to get the images that are in my head I need a dslr. That is not taking anything away from any other camera that I have had, Its just I am pushing myself and a dslr will allow me that freedom.

One point that I have found is that 'most' compacts and bridge cameras are limited regarding f stops from 2.8 - 8 That is what I have found out using Sony models.
