New canon 24-105L lens, sharp enough?

Today I bought a canon 24-105l lense, I love it already.
I know some people have reported problems with the sharpness of so of the copies of this lens so I submit this picture for you to judge.
At 105mm iso100 f4
The focus point was on the bird

You cant tell without looking at 100& crops.

I really wouldnt worry about it though

looks ok to me. you can tell by looking at the wood that it hasn't front or back focused. And it looks sharp enough - straight out of the camera it'll be a little soft anyway until you sharpen it in elements or photoshop or similar.
