Thanks: Gave 679, Got 340 | Bristol Half Marathon 2007 - some images to bore you...
Covered it again this year. Start in a not very dynamic place but got some alright stuff. Focused on the 'elite' runners this year rather than candids of local people in ill fitting running shoes or non running shoes and banana suits running for a friends cat charity and got some nice facial expressions. Steve Cram present. Image 4 is the winner about to cross the line and second place not far behind him.
All shot on an N with the 300mm F2.8 at various ISO for exposure.
I used the bokeh to great effect, with the course folding away. Intentionally shot to the furthest sides of my 45 sensor points to give the images some depth. Light was rubbish and the images lack a little snap, even with a levels tweak....oh and shot in lowest spec to max out the cards but went home bored after an hour or so!

WOW - really nice. Excellent framing - and the 4th shot is a blinder!
7 almost looks like an MP3 player ad |

Welcome back Pete. These are great. I love the 1st one with the great shallow DoF. No 4 is obviously a class shot and tells the story of the race but I also like the ones you've taken of the runners straining every muscle. They don't look like they're having fun!

Thanks a lot guys.
Had my third op this year two weeks ago. Major surgery, but feeling so much better. People are noticing a big difference, especially on my face...I feel a lot less strained and the old black dog is still staying away...sort of.
Thanks again.

Fantastic shots Pete. I love the way the athletes are isolated from the background with the shallow dof you've used. No. 7 is class.
Glad the ops have gone well and that you are feeling the benefits (pun intended ). Keep yourself healthy mate |

Very good pics as usual Pete, good to hear you are on the mend after what must have been a tough time for you.
The reason the black dog has stayed away is that he has been round my home recently, but i managed to shoo him away after a couple of weeks.

Great framing on those Pete, not as sharp as your usual efforts but I understand you shot on a lower quality than usual

Nice to see you back Pete.
Some of those facial expressions remind me why I hate running.

Hey Pete
I ran in the Bristol Half Marathon this year. Did it in 2 hours 4 mins. First one I ever done. Great pics by the way.
