10 from my weekend away

Hi all,

Just got back from a long weekend in Market Bosworth, and thought I'd share a few snaps with you, sorry for the large post...

I have been using a DSLR since Feb, with no prior experience, I am uite happy with the results. I know Zoos are easy, so I concentrated on composition and background.

C&C more than welcome.

Hi ya

You have caught some great shots there stebbo.

Will try and give some comments with my untrained eye.

#2 Looks like you got really low down for this one great detail.

#3 The girl in the background is a bit off putting to me.

#6 Nice portait with good detail.

#7 Like the compostion of this one and my fav

What kit was you useing?

Cheers Holo

Re: 10 from my weekend away

Hi Holo,

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated

with number 4, I took a bit of a gamble posting it to be honest. When I shot it, I tried to get a gap between her and the rodent, giving the picture context. It was tough as there were people barging away either side of me, and there I was down on one knee!

I was amazed at the number of people at the Zoo with SLRs, shooting through fences, dirty glass etc etc. I'm no snob, but personally, I wouldn't even try.

I used a 400D with battery grip, and a Canon 70-200 L IS, with a UV filter. I love that lens, althought it does attract attention with the lens hood attached.

Re: 10 from my weekend away

I think #3 is the pick of the bunch there. The little rodent literally pops off the screen. I think the background is excellent as it really ensures the subject is placed well in context.
