A few from yesterday

Hi all,

I managed to get out yesterday lunchtime and go down to a poppy field near to where I work and got a few images I liked. It's amazing how difficult it is to photograph a field of poppies when it's windy....they just don't stay still!

Anyway, I've uploaded a set to my Flick page here but here are a few for C&C;

1) Single Poppy

2) Another Poppy

3) Purple Flower

4) Clock (I know it's not a dandelion but don't know what it is!)

5) Bridge (Colour-fade added in PS)

All of the images apart from the bridge are as they came from my camera with the kit lens.

All C&C appreciated.

Cheers
Steve

Re: A few from yesterday

The last one's very nice mate. I would be tempted to crop the stone bit from the bottom though.

The others seem a little 'flat', maybe need tweaking a little bit to give them some 'pop' ?

Re: A few from yesterday

Thanks for the suggestions Macker. The strange thing is the images look flatter since I uploaded them to Flickr than they are on my PC? I've now modified the Levels and Contrast slightly on them all to improve their impact. I've also cropped out the bottom of the step on the bridge, what do you think?

Cheers
Steve

Much better mate and I think the last one is now superb, the rich colours, converging railings and the shadows from them almost make you feel as if you are falling into the picture, really like it

I've occasionally noticed the same mate, I think Flickr applies its own compression algo when you upload to it ............

Re: A few from yesterday

Is this one of those threads that needs a more precise title?

Anyway, very nice pics. Try a few more wacky angles next time.

'fraid so I've never had a thread started as a result of one of my titles so I'm honoured....

Thanks for the compliment and tip about new angles. Looking back at the images they do look a bit static and composed. Oh well, good excuse to get out and take some more...if it ever stops raining

Cheers
Steve
