Thumbs up Picture sizes have been increased

As I never use it I've only just noticed that the forum software now allows picture attachments up to 1280x1280 pixels, file size remains at 120kb though.
With that in mind it seems only fair to allow embedded pictures up to 1280 also but the 200kb limit (or thereabouts) still remains

Re: Picture sizes have been increased

do you mean only when they are 'clickable'? Otherwise I thought the dimension limitation was due to readability of the forums? 1280 on a landscape photo would surely mess up the forums for those with smaller screens?

Yeah it probably would. You can't even assume 1024 as a safe minimum, as things like the office toolbar will reduce this. These days I assume 1024x768 resolution is a safe minimum, so maybe 900 pixels wide would be a good working size. I might have to try it and see how they look

Hi Richard
Forum software now allows 1280x1280 attachments, seems a bit off for me to then stipulate anything smaller for embedding, take your point as I hate scrolling to see large images, currently running 1280x800 on my laptop, personally I think 900/1000 as Yandros says is a good compromise, I'm just trying to be consistent, I'd hope people are sensible personally I wouldn't go larger than 1000 for a landscape and I always reduce my portrait shots to 650ish for posting here.

Re: Picture sizes have been increased

Flickr large size is ok for embedding then?

(Sorry that's for me shooting on a 30D - full size images are 3504 x 2336, but the flick large is 1024x691 or so...)

Cool!

Re: Picture sizes have been increased

As long as your file size stays around the 200kb mark
