A few from my Hols (Ireland) inc. HDRs

Hello all,

Nipped over to Ireland (both Northern and the Republic) from last Tuesday as was best man at a wedding on the weekend and went early to see a few sights. Some great skies to be had however it was too great a dynamic range for single shots, so I made HDRs out of the RAW images. Anyway, hope you enjoy a few of the goodies...! C&C welcome.

#1: Looking West from Carrick rope bridge

EF-S 17-55mm | 17mm | f/8.0

#2: Looking out through Londonderry city walls

EF-S 17-55mm | 21mm | f/6.3 | 1/200 sec | ISO100

#3: My Girlfriend on Londonderry city walls with some heavy HDR

EF-S 17-55mm | 20mm | f/5.6

#4: Slieve cliffs

EF-S 17-55mm | 17mm | f/7.1 | 1/640 sec | ISO100

#5: View out over the North Atlantic from Slieve cliffs

EF-S 10-22mm | 10mm | f/8.0

#6: Girlfriend on the Carrick rope bridge

EF-S 17-55mm | 24mm | f/6.3

More to follow...

Some nice pics there. I'm keen on #9 personally. I'm sure you could do some fairly cool Photoshop work on that with the cool sky, cliffs and sea.

Nice GF as well

Nice shots - I'd love to see #4 & #5 in really punchy black and white. I'm not entirely convinced by your HDRs though I'm afraid.

Excellent shots all round!! Love the first one and just to clear up any potential confusion (its Carrick-a-rede)! "Carrick" is another town along the coast from Belfast!!

Nice shots!

Re: A few from my Hols (Ireland) inc. HDRs

I recognise a lot of those places!

Great shots. The Dawn from Ballycastle is my favorite and that rope bridge looks a damn sight quiter than when we were there at the weekend!

Thanks for the tip. I did know the "-a-read" bit but was being lazy. No excuse though.

Yes we did stay in Ballycastle (lovely B&B with great views of the harbour) but didnt make it over to Rathlin Island. Instead did the causeway (over-rated and too touristy), rope bridge (I really enjoyed this) and then drove through Port Stewart and Port Rush on to Londonderry. Then from there off to Donegal. Quite a long day that one, 'specially with being up at 06:00 for the sunrise back in ballycastle!

Anyways, thanks to all for the comments. Most of the HDRs were done to the max (i.e. in Photomatix with the Strength slider to the max) however I still didnt seem to get the extreme effect I've seen on some other photos. Maybe the sky just wasnt intense enough

Really nice set of shots. Dawn from Ballycastle and Carrick Peninsula do it for me.
