Casio Exilm EX-S770 - Please Help!!!

I just got back from a fantastic holiday in France and had 200+ great family photos on my Casio Exilm EX-S770. I hooked it up to my lap-top this morning via USB and started downloading the photos with Picasa. The process was working fine and I could see the pictures on my lap-top when it suddenly all froze up. I rebooted the computer but now my camera won't charge or switch on and the computer won't recognize the USB.
Please help as these photographs are irreplaceable and I will be gutted if I've lost them.

Thanks in advance for any help..............

Your camera doesn't sound too healthy, but the photos should still be recoverable if you can take the memory card out and plug it into a USB card reader.
