Battery Grips?

I'm looking at getting a battery grip for my Canon EOS350D, I've seen quite a few on ebay that are half the price of the Canon one, would there be a great deal of difference between the Canon and others?

Cheers

Re: Battery Grips?

BG-E3 is the recommended one for 350D. US $90.00 (circa £45.00). It's a starting point.

Re: Battery Grips?

Canon often overprices accessories but quality is always good.

The 3rd party ones have the additional controles etc?

Re: Battery Grips?

I picked up my BG-E3 grip on here for a good price, very useful for portrait shots

There are a couple of 3rd party ones which only allow you to take a shot and don't have the dial

Re: Battery Grips?

Just bought mine for the 400D from Ebay, £60 that was with two batteries, holder for the two rechargeable ones, and a holder for ordinary batteries
( ok as a backup ), and a remote unit, Six days from Hong Kong. Works a treat

Re: Battery Grips?

The only difference is the quality, I know the Hamel ones are a bit hit & miss with their quality. I personally went for the genuine BG-E3 for around £90 then added a couple of batteries. c4rm bought it off me and it's still going strong

I don't mind buying cheapie bits for some things but when it comes to the camera I go for genuine so I have some warranty and assurance of quality. Now before you all harp about inflated RRP's and not all genuine stuff is good, my experience of genuine stuff is good and I have the cash to spare

Re: Battery Grips?

Thanks for the advice, I only had the cash for a 3rd party one at the moment, got it for £36 inc postage and packaging so it's not really a big risk I'm taking. I'll update when it arrives!

Re: Battery Grips?

Wish you luck and many hours of enjoyment with it matey. Should be ok and if not at least it's a cheap way of trying the grip out
