Thanks: Gave 166, Got 850 | Aircraft on "finals" at LHR (Large File)
All these were shotg on the same day within about an hour from the Bath Road near Heathrow Airport:
I like the sky on this one.
My plane of choice, preferred seat 2K
Yes, they do let small planes land at LHR.
A Lufthansa airbus.
The 777s are OK, but I still prefer the jumbo
Regards
John

#2 fo me...really nice details....I suppose you were a bit to close to afford them a bit more room in the frame....that aside very nice |

Nice shots John
I like no. 2 too.
I will be passing that way tommorrow - mum lives near terminal 5.
You get some good view of the big birds landing and taking off there...

Nice.. Where I live you can see up to 15 planes circling Heathrow at a time.on a nice clear day...At night they look like moving stars but Ive never though of moving toward the A4 ( Bath Rd) to shoot them
Very clear shots

Thanks for all the nice comments. These were taken using a Nikon D80 with the 18-135 kit lens. I like the shot of the BA jumbo, but I only just got in frame hence the tight crop. As for the others I have cropped all tight to keep the file size within limits.
Regards
John

Nice shots. Like the composition of the little plane myself.
Can't remember the name of the road as I haven't been down it in a while, could be A4. It's the one that goes in to London and has a PC World on it near Brentford? I seem to remember going down there and seeing a jumbo coming in and due to the perspective it looked like it was just about to knock chimneys off the roofs of houses on the street. I'd have thought a long lens and some patience could get you a nice shot showing some sort of scale as well. .....mmmm....got me thinking....

Sorry about this but......
They're all underexposed and the RJ isn't sharp at all.
More practice necessary.

If you can improve them in software Im sure the OP wont mind a play in Photoshop .. we all have something to learn
but
Sincerly they dont all look underexposed on my monitor, TBH a little dull but that and any lack of sharpness ( not on the Jumbo, 777 and Airbus) could just as easily be due to compressing for the web
