Actually i live about a mile away myself (Woodhall) but 500 metres made a better post

No mate, never been to any photo club in my life, photography has never been an overiding passion with me, i just like to have a decent camera to try
and take decent pictures whenever the occasion arises.
But having said that i have always had a camera since i was about 13 years old (a long time ago) and have always enjoyed it, but like most blokes i seem to flit in and out of other interests like hi-fi, collecting old cameras, airguns, lighters etc.

I flitted into a fascination with lighters when I was about 12, set the woods on fire on numerous occasions and then one day lit a big fire right behind a petrol station. Dad decided that this was not a particularly clever move and took me to the police station

That experience would have been enough to give you mental issues in later life

I had zippo lighter when I was a teenager. I would practice opening it up by squeezing it between finger and thumb, before striking along my leg.

Until you try and impress a young lady and end up shooting it across the pub floor and under the pool table. Being on the hands and knees in a crowded pub, disrupting some meatheads game of pool trying to rescue a lighter is not a way to impress a young lady.
