Thanks: Gave 99, Got 752 | My first attempt at a photo
Just got my first ever proper camera, namely the Sony A100. Over the coming days, weeks and years I will post up my efforts. At the moment I am having to use the preset modes on the camera as I have no idea how to use the manual functions yet, but I will get there in the end.
This one taken with the macro function. http://www.flickr.com/photos/80482858@N00/485252468/
I know it's pretty boring, but wanted to post my first effort up anyway.
Feel free to lay into it with whatever criticisms you feel necessary.

I'm not into photography, but can confirm your camera works
Come on mate, have another go
I could have done that and I have no art in me whatsoever
I'm not taking the P (well maybe I am a bit), but it's hardly inspiring, is it?
Go on, get out there and snap some stuff that is worth slating

If it's of any interest, I like spiders in a web

Well done! That's definitely an orange. Perhaps you can wait a week or two, and take another shot to enter into the competition as it'll be properly soft by then (and a bit green too no doubt).

Ja, you definately need to shoot something interesting.
One thing you might have discovered though is that anti-shake works - that was shot at 0.8 seconds. More likely that you took it on a tripod though, in which case I hope you remembered to turn anti-shake off!
Get out there and have fun.

Go on a bike ride with your camera, in good weather more importantly!

Thanks all.
So you don't think my satsuma is art then. I call it 'Satsuma on Speaker', sure to win the Turner prize No worries, I was just testing the camera out. Quote:

Once I get an idea of what all those funny numbers mean then that will be a start!
Hope to post something slightly more interesting next time. Maybe some satsumas in a fruit bowl, shot at night perhaps.
