Do Jessops price match Warehouse Express?

I read somewhere that they have done but not sure if it was true or not.
Im after a 70-200f/4 IS and WE seem the cheapest but i would prefer to get it from a shop so i can try it first or take it back if any problems.
Other than that i might try Ian kerso as he is about £100 cheaper but i cant decide if i want to go that route.

Thanks

Re: Do Jessops price match Warehouse Express?

It's hit or miss depending on the store and who you actually deal with in the store from experience.

You'd be better to ring you local store in advance, if they agree to it in principle get the person's name and ask to speak to him/her when you go in.

Given the current climate (Jessops pricematching seems to have subsided a little bit recently) I think your chances are slim, however I think you'd have a better chance if you asked them to pricematch products on cameras2u.com as that's part of the same company that owns Jessops (apparently)

Re: Do Jessops price match Warehouse Express?

Thanks david.
my local one is the oxford st branch and they are normally quite good with the PM although they dont seem to have a lot of good stuff in stock.
Yes, i was thinking of cameras2u as well. they, and Techo.co.uk are indeed part of the Jessops chain

Re: Do Jessops price match Warehouse Express?

There's a full-page Jessops advert in the back of this month's What Digital Camera which says "bring this voucher in to any store, along with the magazine, and we'll price match any price given". Warehouse Express advertise on the following page.

Re: Do Jessops price match Warehouse Express?

Having just bought a 70-200 f4 L from Ian Kerso I found his service to be excellent and a lot cheaper than warehouse express.

Re: Do Jessops price match Warehouse Express?

Yes, i know Ian is well respected and very cheap.
Its just that if the lens is not working properly what happens next? Yes, i could send it back to Ian but im at he's mercy as to whether he will change it over and how long it would take. He has said he would send another one out straight away and if this is the case great. Im really not knocking Ian as i haven't dealt with him but when you buy from a shop you have certain rights and i dont know how we stand buying private. And what about if the lens needs to go to Canon at some point?
I got a Canon 17-55IS recently and paid almost £70 more than Ian wanted but i felt i got peace of mind as well.
I might well get it from Ian though, just not sure yet.

i've bought from ian and i'm sure he'd swap it. at the end of the day you get a 1 year canon international warranty with his lenses

like someone said before it depends what store you go into. before xmas jessops offical stance was they'd stopped price matching, however when i got my canon 400d, sigma lens and 100aw slingshot they pricematched with cameras2u in fact i got the slingshot 100aw for £23 - try and find that cheaper on the web!

good luck

Do you mind telling me how much you paid for it? you can PM it if you prefer.
I did look in to using Ian before but i needed to use my Amex card via Paypal and doing it that way the cost went up. PP charge extra for using Amex (something about charging it in $ rather than £). In the end i got a 17-55IS from WE but i really want the 70-20 now.

Got a Scouts/cubs weekend in May to cover and im sure the 70-200 will come in to its own.

Re: Do Jessops price match Warehouse Express?

Hi all, first post on this forum....

I managed to get Jessops to price match on a Canon 400d with the standard 18-55 lens for £480 and the 75-300 USM MK3 lens for £149.

Took some effort with them twice refusing until I produced the ad in the What Digital Camera mag. Saved a wopping £107 pounds off their shelf price...

Without the posts on this site it would have cost sooooo much more.

Thanks, and hopefully I will post some pictures when I eventually figure out how to take descent ones.

Tony

Re: Do Jessops price match Warehouse Express?

Well done

I believe though that Jessops pricematching is very inconsistent and cannot be relied upon.
It is very "Branch" and "Sales staff at the time" dependent
The Store Managers seem to have some leeway and will use it depending on howw slow or good sales are on the day.
I recently inquired about a Canon 400D and 30D body only..in my local store and was dismissed as as if for the impossible.. and only offered the 400D in silver.
At a store 5-6 miles away ( 10-15min by car, the story was completely different as they had more stock and even told me what to bring to get a gpd price-matching deal
