Opinions on tripods...

Hi,
I'm looking for any feedback on which tripods are best for general use. My research indicates that Monfrotto seem to be one of the industry leaders in this field but at costs of £80 for the stand and then at least the same for the head I want to know whats worth getting and whats not!

I would be using it for general portrait and landscape use etc, probably not much macro use though.

Any help/guidance/opinions gratefully received!

You're right that Manfrotto are recognised as about as good as it gets. The more you look at it, the more you realise that £80 isn't as bad as it gets for a decent tripod! However, for a super discount, head for the highly-recommended Calumet CK6143 at only £19.95, including the head!
