Thanks: Gave 679, Got 340 | NEC Harlequins vs Bristol Rugby - 24 FEB 07.
Up in London yesterday. In fact, still there as booked into a hotel for the night. Good game, Bristol lost, but managed to get some decent stuff. Tried my new 1.4 extender yesterday which dropped me down to F4. Really really happy with the performance. Now at 420mm F4 which of course would not be used at night games.
Anyway, comments welcome. |

Anyway, I think this is my favourate, lots of great expressions - shows the intensity ofthe game. Also has a nice comedy angle to it
Strangley, my 3rd old currently sharing my lap also really likes this one - so it must be good
Nice work

Same thing for me, same image. Its the brightness of the image that stands out and the fact you have 6 faces in the picture is also another big factor.
Well done.!

I think I prefer these sports shots with less bokeh (as in the 1st and 5th images) actually Pete. Gives more of an impression of crowd size and atmosphere to me. Cracking shots as always.

Nos 4 5 and & 8 are stand outs for me.
All fantastic as usual Pete
There seem to be 3 types of shots
The solo ones ( where bokeh is fab)
The group action ones where quite a few bodies fill out the frame ( very solid framing)
and the rest
The use of extender hasn't removed sharpness at all and perhaps because it is daylight they are perfectly exposed
As Steve has commented one or two shots with the crowd showing ( a tad less bokeh) may add to the atmosphere without detracting attention away from your subject (the main players) but I just keep being amazed at the high quality of your work in such split second situations
Excellent stuff from the master

These are super and you really can see the difference that decent light shows.
Pete - next time you see Shaun Perry can you ask him what on earth he was thinking changing direction yesterday to throw that lovely pass for Boss to score at the end? The muppet.

I think I have to go with the majority. All shots are brilliant, but I especially like the one mentioned by Liquid101. Absolutely fab.

Thanks all.
With reference to the extender, cant see any difference and I think I prefer my lens at F4 to be honest.
Thanks for the comments.
Pete.

Superb shots again Pete, I too like the shot that Liquid picked out, would be chuffed with any of them though.

Really, really great shots. Liquid's 'comedy angle'...some eyebrows could surely be raised about the ball-carrier's spare hand. :D
