Sigma 17 - 70mm f2.8/f4.5

I was just trying out my new Sigma 17 – 70mm f2.8/f4.5, and I must say I’m very impressed with the sharpness from this lens.

Canon 350D, Sigma 17 - 70, 1/200 sec, Manual, f4.5, 70mm focal length, Sigma EF 500 DG Super Flash.

Re: Sigma 17 - 70mm f2.8/f4.5

Pleased that your pleased. Photo certainly looks nice and sharp.
I'm considering this lens to replace my Canon 28-105 3.5-4.5 USM II. I've followed a few other threads and overall people seem pretty pleased.
Have you tried any wide at 2.8 yet? I'm interested to see how this lens performs as it's because of the 17mm @ 2.8 that I'm considering it.

P.S. How do you get on with the Sigma flash? I was thinking I'd have to get a Canon flash because it would communicate with the camera better (sorry if this is considered thread hijacking).

Haven't uploaded photos before so this is just a test! Taken with my Sigma. Haven't had a chance to give the camera a good test yet but if the weather stays dry for tomorrow hope to get out into the lakes

jeepers it worked! looks a bit small though

I like this lens a lot. My comp entry this month was taken with this lens.

This is also one of the lenses on my shopping list - if i ever get round to actually buying my DSLR. POTN has a good thread about it and there are plenty of fans off this lens.

The focus point is on the pestle and mortar, this is a shot when I was first trying out the lens for focusing.

17mm at f2.8, 1/50 sec, ISO200

Very happy with the Sigma flash, I've used it on camera and with the Canon Off-Camera Shoe Cord with no problems whatsoever.

Re: Sigma 17 - 70mm f2.8/f4.5

When I was doing my research before buying there were reports of 'back focussing' on this lens. Apparently there were some dodgy examples of the lens about. Yours looks spot on.
