Buying in USA

Hi,

I'm abou to head off to the USA for a hols and wanted to buy a new camera. I'm torn between the Ixus 850/900, Fuji F30 and Sony T30, so any advice on these would be welcome.

But the real question I have is whether to buy before I go, or should I make use of the exchange rates and buy the camera in the States. Please excuse my ignorance, but if I buy a camera in the States, will it work ok in the UK? I'm guessing there may be a problem with the charger, but does anyone know of other pitfalls.

Thanks for your help.

I've just returned from a holiday in the 'States and found that prices were pretty much the same or even more expensive than here in the UK. I was only looking at Canon accessories (flash, lenses etc) and then only in the main retail stores. You may find better prices through specialist dealers.

On thing to bear in mind is that all displayed prices do not include State Sales Tax which can range from 0% (in Alaska I think) to 8 or 9%. California and Nevada are 7.75%.

New Hampshire is also 0 %.
That's why every weekend there's an exodus from Boston in "Taxachussetts" northwards to Salem ,NH - where there's about 2 miles of shops conveniently situated just off the I93.
Any high cost goods tend to be purchased there.
