Just ordered........
....a Canon 24-105 f/4 L
As I am still off work sick and have just sold my Sigma zoom I decided to treat myself to my first L lens and plumped for the 24-105 f/4 L.
Got it from Warehouse Express for £679 have now, pay July next year
Having seen the sharpness of the images from numerous sources and with the reach that the lens gives I decided that this was the perfect choice, though I may have to get something to complement it on the longer range in the future

Re: Just ordered........
I am very impressed with the lens since getting it.
It is remarkably fast & quiet.
I thought my 17-85 was good but this is superior in every respect.
You will not be dissapointed.
I am hoping to post some shots once I get free of my day job interferences

Does anyone know where I can view a photo of this lens on the camera so I can judge the size of it ?

Re: Just ordered........
So would you class this as your main walk-about lens? I'm looking for such a beast that will allow me cover 80% of the stuff I do (around towns, general photowalking etc) Could then compliment it with the Sigman 70-300?
I must admit tho I dont think I'm quite ready to spend almost £700 on a lens just yet but need something to replace my kit lens for walk-abouts.
Cheers for the photos - it looks like a propoer camera now

Re: Just ordered........
That's what I'm thinking as well, this lens has a decent range from landscape to nearly able to zoom in for my bird photography and suring the winter may be all I need for walking around the lakes etc.

Its my main walkaround lens though. It stays on unless I need wide (sigma 10-20), or long (canon 70-300IS)

It definately looks grown up with the hand grip and flash.
It is my walkabout lens, It just fits on to an old lowpre SLR bag that is ideal for carrying around, I am carrying my camera around more now.
It is a lot of money but will go nicely when I upgrade the 350D.

Re: Just ordered........
I bought this lens specificall to be my main 'walkabout' lens. I does lose some reach on my old Sigma 18-200, but the increase in quality is important to me at the moment.
I guess that when the festival season starts again next year I will be looking to get a 70-200 lens to make up for the shortfall on the 24-105. I may even look at something a little longer though 200mm seemed enough to cope with the kind of pictures that I normally take at festivals etc.
It's a fair amount of cash, but the deferred payment allows me to keep the money in my account rather than someone elses, and, I am hoping that this will be the final purchase in the general 'walkaround' range. It will complement my 10-20 Sigma well
